  • What is CBD?

CBD, or cannabidiol, is a natural oil that has been extracted from the hemp plant. It’s just one of more than 100 cannabinoids that can be extracted from hemp! And while CBD is one of the most famous, research shows that CBD is actually most effective when it works together with other cannabinoids (this is called the “entourage effect”). See more in our answer about the difference between full spectrum, broad spectrum, and CBD isolate below.

While the strengths of CBD have been known for centuries, CBD has only come into the limelight over the past few years. (Much of this is due to the passage of the 2018 federal Farm Bill – more on this below.) Many people have since discovered the joy of CBD for themselves.

It is important to understand that CBD is different from the THC in marijuana. CBD is not intoxicating and will not give you a “high.”

  • What Does CBD Do?

One of the many systems in the human body is the endocannabinoid system. Simply put, it is a vast network of receptors that communicate with nearly every system in the body, including the central nervous system, immune system, and organs. This system helps regulate your anti-inflammatory response, immune system, appetite, mood, anxiety levels, sleep schedule, and more.

CBD is one of over a hundred types of cannabinoids found in hemp plants. CBD and other cannabinoids fit into the receptors of the endocannabinoid system.

  • What are the Benefits of CBD?

Different people experience different benefits of CBD. The most common benefits are a sense of calm, relaxation, focus, balance, stress relief, sleep support, and pain relief. Research around the benefits of CBD continues to uncover more ways it can support optimal health.

  • Is CBD Marijuana?

Country Lane CBD products are made with CBD derived from hemp – not marijuana. And while hemp and marijuana are closely related, they are not the same.

The main difference is the two plants’ levels of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the psychoactive compound that gives marijuana users a “high.” Hemp is grown to have very low THC (legally, hemp can contain no more than .3% of THC). Marijuana, on the other hand, is grown to have much higher THC concentrations and is still federally illegal.

Hemp plants contain over 100 different types of compounds. One of the other compounds in hemp is CBD, which is non-psychoactive, meaning it will not give you a high.

  • Is There any THC in CBD?

Unlike marijuana, which has higher levels of high-inducing THC, hemp contains no more than .3% of THC. Whether there is THC in CBD depends on the product you use. For example, our full spectrum products, like our goat milk lotion, soaps, soaks, pet oil, and relief gel, contain less than .3% THC. Our broad-spectrum products, including our CBD oils for people, are THC-free.

  • Is CBD Legal?

The 2018 federal Farm Bill removed hemp from the controlled substance list, and legalized the growth, production, and manufacturing of hemp. It also legalized hemp-derived CBD products, as long as the THC content is less than 0.3%. However, the bill gave states the right to implement their own CBD restrictions, so laws vary from state to state.

Under the federal bill, marijuana, which comes from the same plant family as hemp, remains a drug.

  • Who Can Use CBD?

A wide variety of people can use CBD (including our furry family members – more on this below!). However, as with all supplements, you may want to check with your doctor if you have questions or concerns.

  • What part of the plant is used to make CBD oil?

Great question. We use the whole plant when creating our hemp extract. The CBD and other healthful terpenes and flavonoids are found throughout the plant, especially its leaves and buds (colas). Interestingly, the seeds contain only trace amounts of CBD. So if you want full-spectrum CBD, do not purchase Hemp Seed Oil.

  • Where is Country Lane CBD made?

Thanks for your interest in Country Lane CBD! Our products are all hand-crafted using hemp grown on our farm in Bend, Oregon. The nutrient-rich, volcanic soil from central Oregon helps us grow the healthy, tall, and lush hemp plants we use in our CBD products. Our plants are planted, tended, and harvested by hand. We then press the oils and infuse them with organic flavorings and essential oils. So, everything we sell is proudly made in the USA, specifically in Oregon state.

  • Is it possible to get high by taking your CBD products?

Thank you for reaching out to us about this. No, you cannot get high by using any CBD products from Country Lane CBD. Our Country Lane CBD products are all made from hemp, not marijuana. Our products are all lab-tested by a third-party and we can guarantee that they have less than .3% THC in them. This is the legal limit of THC in any CBD products, therefore, you can rest assured you will not get high using our products.

  • Is it possible to overdose on CBD?

Good question. No, you will not overdose and risk your life by taking too much CBD. Because CBD is not a narcotic or psychotropic drug, it doesn’t pose a life-threatening risk. Additionally, the amount of THC in Country Lane CBD is less than .3%, so it is also impossible to have a “high” from consuming CBD. I hope this is helpful. Please let us know if you have any other questions we can answer.

  • Will I fail a drug test if I take CBD?

Great question. While it is highly unlikely that you would fail a drug test by using CBD, we cannot guarantee anything. The amount of THC in CBD is less than .3%, and in our Country Lane CBD, it is much less than that at approximately .15%. We know this because of third-party lab testing we conduct on our products. Although you will only be consuming a tiny amount of THC, it’s possible that trace amounts could be seen in some drug tests. It’s our understanding that you would need to be consuming a considerable amount of CBD for this to happen, but it’s definitely something to consider.

  • Can I use your CBD products when taking ibuprofen?

Great question! Unfortunately, there isn't a definitive answer on whether CBD is safe to combine with Ibuprofen because it is so new to the market, and there is a lack of studies on it. As with all supplements, you may want to check with your doctor if you have concerns. Something to be aware of with over-the-counter medications is the "grapefruit" effect." Sometimes CBD can impact the absorption rate of pharmaceuticals that are also affected by grapefruit. So, if you are taking medication that advises you not to eat grapefruit, then you want to take precautions with CBD as well. I hope this is helpful! If you have any other questions or concerns, please let us know, we’re always happy to help!

  • Do you conduct third-party testing on your CBD products?

Yes, we are required to perform third-party testing by an independent lab. These test results verify the amount of CBD and THC in our oils, as well as the fact that they are chemical-free and pesticide-free. We cannot sell any CBD products unless they are confirmed to have less than .3% THC in them. You can be assured our products are safe and pure for you! Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

  • What is the correct dosage for me?

We generally recommend beginning CBD with a small dose, then paying attention to your body’s response. If you don’t feel enough of a response, we then encourage you to slowly increase your dosage until you notice a difference. Our CBD oils have 50mg of CBD per dose, but it is okay to take a few doses per day, or even two doses at once. Note that a dose of 25mg is almost the entire dropper full of oil (not just a drop!) up to the graduated black mark on the dropper. Start here and adjust as needed. Please feel free to reach out with any additional questions.
